Hydraulic oil

We can supply and install or supply only a wide range of hydraulic oils to suit all lift types. We hold over 8,000 litres in stock all in 25 litre drums for immediate delivery.

When an oil change is carried out, the entire hydraulic system is drained, the tank unit thoroughly cleaned out and de-greased prior to installing the new oil. If major contamination of the hydraulic system has taken place, we also offer the facility to flush out the system to ensure correct operation. All our vans are fully licensed by the environmental agency to carry both new and contaminated oil. All oil disposed of is fully documented and certificated accordingly.

Multigrade oil – VHVI
Our standard oil used is a multigrade 46 which keeps its viscosity between 5ºc and 70ºc, ensuring correct valve operation despite variations in
temperature and lift use.

Slideway oil
We carry a stock of slideway oil which is used on sites where hydraulic frictions are experienced. Existing oil is removed and the new oil introduced allowing fast penetration to the affected areas.

Rape seed oil
Biodegradable oils are used on sensitive sites where there is a risk of oil leaking into watercourses. Many customers require the use of such oils to comply with their environmental or company policies.

Low friction additive
We use a special oil additive which is used on telescopic cylinders to reduce friction where multi seals are used. This additive is particularly important following ram seal replacement, as the seal will require time to bed in.

Blue paper
Whenever working on a hydraulic system, care must be taken to ensure that no contamination takes place. It is for this reason that we use a low fibre blue paper whenever tank units are cleaned or valves serviced.

Oil soak granules
Granules are used to remove the oil residue left in lift pits or motor rooms following a leak or spillage. Oil is drawn into each granule where it is held and then removed from site.

Oil spill dust
Our specially formulated dust is used to remove any residual oil, but also has the added benefit of being able to draw oil from concrete or brickwork, ensuring that the oil does not continue to resurface.

Oil disposal

Since its foundation GF has specialised in the supply of Hydraulic Oils for Lift applications. We are constantly adding to and upgrading both the oils we supply, and the oil related services required, to optimise our customers’ needs, budgets and priorities. Currently our services include:

• We supply oils in 1000,208,20ltr and 4 x 5lt containers.
• All mineral oil supplied by us is based on fully solvent refined virgin base stock
• We also supply a range of specialist Hydraulic Oils and greases – Low Temperature, Military Spec, High Temp, Demulsible, Extremely High Viscosity Index, Hydrotreated, Synthetic etc
• We also supply a range of oil related products – Oil Absorbent Pads, Oil Absorbent Granules, Spill Kits, Bunded Storage Pallets, oil pumps and Oil Containers.
• We deliver new oil to (and collect used oil from) Lift sites throughout the UK.

Collection of waste oil

GF have instituted systems for the Authorised Collection, Transfer and Disposal of Waste Hydraulic Oil from customers’ sites in full compliance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations (2005)

We provide a full service:

• Registration of Premises.
• Obtaining Consignment Notes.
• Collection and Transfer of Waste oil for onward authorised disposal.
• GF provide the customer with a fully audited record (including EA documentation) of all stages of authorised disposal for ISO Certification and EA compliance proposes.

Oil sample – analysis & diagnosis

Using fully independent and internationally accredited Laboratories, GF provide Oil Analysis and Diagnostic Services which accurately:

• Determine whether an oil in use is fit-for-purpose and can/cannot continue in use.
• Determine whether an oil is up to stated Specification, has Oxidised, is contaminated and/or dirty or contains chemical or wear metal contaminants.
• Detect wear in hydraulic systems – pump/valves. Detect contaminants which impair oil and system performance.
• Provide sure, scientific proof of an Oils Condition in the event of dispute or litigation.

• To complete the circle, we collect and transfer for authorised disposal, waste oil form our customers’ lift sites in full compliance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations (2005).
